From 6 January onwards, a massacre unfolded in Aleppo. Turkey-affiliated jihadist groups carried out killings, torture, and executions, claiming the lives of hundreds of people. To this day, civilians continue to be abducted and tortured by the jihadist forces of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). It is reported that approximately 300 residents of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah remain missing.
Crimes against humanity marked the forefront of these events, while civilian resistance emerged within Aleppo, where the people chose to defend themselves and their neighbourhoods. The fact that two neighbourhoods in Aleppo were forced to resist the aggression of forces backed by two nation- states underlines the international dimension of these attacks and points to a broader geopolitical arrangement led by Western hegemonic powers.
Psychological and special warfare played a central role in this assault. Misinformation was systematically deployed by jihadist groups to instil fear, undermine morale, and break the will of the population to resist. In the contemporary era, misinformation has become a powerful instrument for shaping public opinion and constructing narratives that legitimise war policies. The use of media to incite hatred and justify war crimes constitutes a form of special warfare against society itself.
Television channels such as Al Jazeera are widely used by Western audiences that want to be informed about developments in the Middle East, particularly regarding the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Since 6 January, however, it has become evident that Al Jazeera has deliberately disseminated misinformation about the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) across its television broadcasts and social media platforms.
Al Jazeera is funded and organised by the Qatari state. Through both its institutional structure and its editorial narratives, it has become increasingly clear that Al Jazeera functions as a geopolitical instrument of the Qatari state, serving its interests as a capitalist nation-state in the Middle East.
As part of the internationalist community, we condemn this conduct and therefore call for concrete action against this method of special warfare. We call for a boycott of Al Jazeera. We urge everyone to unfollow Al Jazeera as an act of protest against misinformation and hostile propaganda.
In addition, we call for a coordinated Mail Bombing Action to clearly convey to Al Jazeera that:
- The dissemination of misinformation and hostile propaganda against the SDF is unacceptable and condemned.
- A massacre has taken place in Aleppo.
- Such reporting violates fundamental journalistic standards.
- Al Jazeera’s coverage reflects a clear political stance against the Kurdish people at a time when they are facing genocidal violence.
It must be made clear that Al Jazeera’s position creates an artificial division between the attacks on the Kurdish people and the massacre of Palestinians. By presenting itself as a democratic outlet reporting on crimes against humanity while simultaneously spreading misinformation about self-organisation—particularly among Kurds in Syria—Al Jazeera actively contributes to the incitement of ethnic tensions between Arab and Kurdish communities in the Middle East.
The narratives promoted by Al Jazeera stand in direct contradiction to democratic values and the principles of peaceful coexistence in the region. More than this, such narratives deepen ethnic divisions and obstruct the prospects for peace.
We therefore call upon all democratic forces and all those who seek the truth to take a stand against misinformation and to act:
- Boycott Al Jazeera and its channels. Website: https://www.aljazeera.com/ (at the bottom of the website you can find all the channels and the contacts of Al Jazeera, and you can boycott all of them!)

Revolutionary greetings and respect,
14 January 2026
Internationalist Commune of Rojava
Guidelines for the Mail Bombing Action
Step 1: Send emails and messages to Al Jazeera expressing opposition to journalistic misconduct. Below is the proposed framework for the message.
Subject: Report the Truth About the Middle East
Title: The spread of misinformation is journalistic misconduct — report the truth and fulfill your professional responsibility.
Text:
As members of the internationalist community, we strongly condemn the dissemination of misinformation about the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as well as the spread of hatred and hostile propaganda against the Kurdish people. We therefore call for an immediate end to the use of media as a tool of special warfare.
As an outlet that claims to report on crimes against humanity, Al Jazeera has a responsibility to uphold the truth, rather than serving as a vehicle for shaping public opinion and legitimising the war policies of Western powers. The use of media to incite hatred and justify war crimes constitutes a form of warfare against society itself.
The reporting on the massacre in Aleppo has failed to meet basic journalistic standards and has demonstrated a clear political stance against the Kurdish people, who are currently facing genocidal violence. The continued spread of misinformation about the SDF contributes to the legitimisation of war policies pursued by Western forces—the same forces complicit in the genocide against the Palestinian people, which Al Jazeera otherwise reports on extensively.
As the internationalist community, we condemn this misconduct and will continue to boycott Al Jazeera until it abandons this stance and commits to truthful, responsible reporting.
Furthermore, Al Jazeera’s position creates a dangerous division between the massacres of Kurdish people and those of Palestinians. By claiming to be a democratic medium reporting on crimes against humanity while simultaneously misrepresenting self-organisation—particularly among Kurds in Syria—Al Jazeera actively fuels ethnic tensions between Arab and Kurdish populations in the Middle East.
Such reporting contradicts democratic principles and undermines the possibility of peaceful coexistence. Rather than contributing to peace, Al Jazeera’s narratives deepen ethnic divisions and place further obstacles in the way of a just and lasting resolution in the region.
