What we witnessed in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah at the beginning of this year was a historic struggle. Two neighbourhoods that resisted against the coordinated attacks by the hegemonic forces. That defended themselves against jihadist militias, Turkish tanks and air strikes. All the friends who fought to their last breath to protect the population and the wounded.
In Aleppo, we saw a society defending itself, defending life and defending the very values of humanity. We saw a society that is convinced that a democratic solution is possible in the Middle East and that it is our task and responsibility to create and defend it.
With this song we want to remember the strength and the great spirit of self-sacrifice that will forever be connected with the people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah.
